Science Interactive’s partnership with OpenStax underscores the company’s mission to increase access and empower scientific literacy for learners everywhere.

ENGLEWOOD, COOctober 19, 2023–Science Interactive, a leader in supporting effective online science education, announced its new partnership with Rice University-based OpenStax, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to education for all students by providing free, high-quality, peer-reviewed, openly licensed textbooks. As a member of the OpenStax Ally partner program, Science Interactive will support institutions looking for high-quality instructional materials and lab curricula for online & hybrid science courses.

With student demand for online science courses continuing to increase, institutions are re-evaluating their approach and considering a shift to online offerings. The partnership between OpenStax and Science Interactive will enable educators to offer more cost-effective online lab courses without sacrificing the quality and rigor of on-campus courses.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with OpenStax to increase access to high-quality lab experiences for students no matter where they sit,” said Sasha Peterson, CEO of Science Interactive. “Science Interactive is committed to helping programs shift their lab courses online, in ways that are comparable to the on-campus experience without compromising quality or effectiveness. Paired with OpenStax’s peer-reviewed, openly licensed textbooks, our hands-on and digital labs provide engaging and authentic lab experiences, and this partnership reinforces our commitment to that goal.”

“At OpenStax, our mission is to improve educational access and learning for everyone,” said Anthony Palmiotto, Director of Higher Education at OpenStax. “Through our extensive network of partners, called our Allies because of their like-minded organizational goals, instructors and students are provided with expanded access to a variety of learning technology options to use alongside our free online textbooks and aligned resources. We’re excited to welcome Science Interactive as our Ally partner and look forward to all the ways they will work to increase educational equity and elevate the online lab experience for students around the world.”

For over 30 years, Science Interactive has worked with thousands of colleges and universities to expand access to their online science courses. As the only provider with all of its 11 disciplines certified by Quality Matters and a burgeoning partnership program designed to help institutions expand access to online labs, Science Interactive makes it easier to deliver the most authentic, engaging online lab courses possible.
