Science Interactive has been at the forefront of the distance-learning education industry for more than two decades. During that time, we’ve learned providing remote students with hands-on lessons is not only possible, but it is a powerful solution to helping students succeed. With our hands-on lab kits, digital lessons and online learning platform, you’re able to move your lab science course online without sacrificing quality or integrity.
Increase Teaching Efficiency and Course Rigor
Bridge the learning gap between traditional and non-traditional students
Non-traditional students often require more flexibility in their schedules than traditional, on-campus students. Unfortunately, the benefits of online learning are severely limited when schools don’t also offer online laboratory courses as students would still need to access an on-campus lab.
Our comprehensive lab solutions remove the geographic restraint on science education by enabling colleges and universities to bridge the learning gap remote learners, and lessen the strain placed on their on-campus facilities.
Optimized online science courses save you time
We understand how much time an instructor spends planning, preparing and teaching a course. That is why we take care of all the logistics and details for you. Our team of scientists and distance learning specialists can help you launch your course online in no time. We’ll handle all of the miscellaneous stuff — course content creation, e-learning platform management, lab materials sourcing, shipping logistics, and even student support — so you can focus on what you do best: teaching.
Create educational opportunity for everyone
Distance learning allows every student a chance for a quality education
It makes sense that our founders, Peter and Linda Jeschofnig, had the idea for remote lab science while teaching at Colorado Mountain College, an institution with 11 campuses spread out across 12,000 square miles of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Travel can be difficult up there, with icy blizzards and ravenous wildfires often closing roads for days or weeks at a time.
It was in that obstructed environment that the Jeschofnigs realized the commute to campus could be a major roadblock for students in pursuit of a science education — and not just those affected by crazy weather.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to move online, the largest growing segment of the higher education population was remote learners. When compared to the demographics of traditional course enrollment, this population includes significantly more students with disabilities, underrepresented minorities, and economically disadvantaged students.
Remote learners are often also non-traditional students, those who are financially independent or who balance their studies with childcare and/or a full-time job and require the convenience of online courses to advance their education. For these students especially, a science degree has traditionally not been a realistic option.
Optimized online science courses save you time
Science Interactive enables you to launch your online course more quickly than ever before. We’ll handle all of the miscellaneous stuff — course content creation, elearning platform management, lab materials sourcing, shipping logistics, and even student support — so you can focus on what you do best: teaching. We’re tearing down the red tape that separates lab science instructors from online students, allowing educators across the country to maximize their reach.
Why should you provide an online lab science course?
Increase student enrollment and retention
Let’s cut to the chase: online learning is no longer just an option, it’s a necessity. As students continue to demand for increased flexible learning, online course offerings are essential for higher-education institutions to help increase student enrollment and retention.
This isn’t to say that distance learning should replace all face-to-face instruction, but rather that schools that offer distance learning pathways will more effectively close the learning gap for students who can’t have the traditional campus experience. This helps professors reach more students while increasing enrollment for universities.
Increase student engagement during courses
Our mission has always been to provide quality science education to students regardless of their location or life circumstance. That is why we’ve meticulously designed our lessons to not only match the quality of in-person instruction but to provide students with an engaging experience to help deepen their understanding of the world of science.
Many of our instructors have discovered, that through the independence of at-home lab kits and the interactivity of our intuitive elearning platform, today’s online science students are becoming more engaged, taking control over their own education, and building a strong and complex learning network between themselves, their peers, and their professors.
